Stags Leap District is one of the world's great  growing regions, a valley within a valley, which stretches from the Napa River to the eastern outcropping of the Stags Leap palisades. It's an illustrious neighborhood that includes many of the founding fathers of Napa Valley.

The soils vary across the Quixote property and are the result of volcanic eruptions that took place millions of years ago, as well as the slow erosion of the arid Vaca Mountains. The gravely soils, interspersed with cobblestones, are coarser and retain less water resulting in low-vigor vines that yield fruit with great intensity and flavor.

Organic farming is common sense farming, and while whimsy has taken ahold of the buildings, the 29-acre vineyard is farmed without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. This top quality, hands on approach produces better grapes and the best wine. We call it thoughtful farming.

The habitat surrounding the vineyards is full of life. From owls and raptors to tiny lizards that compete with your feet as you enter the winery, the diversity of the ranch ecosystem helps promote balance between man and nature as well as continually improves the overall health of the vineyard. A practical and common sense approach.
