Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Panza Stags' Leap Ranch 2001 , $40

Dark, firm, intense and concentrated, this is an immense wine with a solid backbone of tannins, offering hints of earth, dark chocolate and blackberry and a mix of cedar and tobacco. Definitely needs time for the tannins to subside. Best from 2007 through 2013. 1,400 cases made. - J.L.
